Our youngest farmers will see how Heckscher Farm is waking up from the winter; New baby animals, peepers in the pond, and plants beginning to grow. Children will create a project with attending adult.

March around SM&NC and see how spring has arrived on the farm. The earth is warming up and plants and animals are waking up from their winter rest. The farm is a busy place. Children will create a project with attending adult.

After-School Programs

Wild Woods Adventure After School (ages 5 - 9) - FULL
Wednesdays, April 19 - May 10, 3:45 pm - 5 pm
Explore the forest like never before as we search for salamanders and snakes, help build a fort, learn how to make fire, and more! We'll use our zip line in the forest, learn some basics of wild edibles, dig in the dirt, search the stream for creatures, and work on our engineering skills as we make a small dam for our stream. We'll test our outdoor adventure skills in a safe, fun atmosphere that will allow kids to challenge themselves while exploring our wild woods! Limited to 12 children. Code: EE2S

What's for Dinner? (ages 5 - 9) - FULL
Wednesdays, May 17 - June 7, 3:45 pm - 5 pm
Who eats what for dinner? Join SM&NC Environmental Education staff as we discover what's on the menu for our farm animals, otters, turtles, and even us! We'll explore the menus of and help to feed some of our feathery and furry friends on the Farm, and we'll give a special treat to the otters. We'll also learn about where our food comes from by working in our own organic vegetable garden. This unique, interactive program is limited to 12 children for a great small-group experience, so please register early. Code: EE3S
