Adult and Child Classes
Fantastic fall fun is going to happen on the Heckscher Farm! Join us as we explore what is happening on the Farm as everybody gets ready for the colder weather. Create your own signs of fall. Our Child with Adult programs, detailed below, are for children ages two years through three years old. Please click the brochure on this page for more information or Click here to register online.

All classes take place at Heckscher Barn. Please note that for safety reasons, siblings who are in a baby carrier on parent are welcome but otherwise please make other arrangements for them during class.

Little Farmers, 9:30 - 10:15 am

Start in the barn classroom on the farm and go out and see this beautiful season. Visit the farm animals and see what they are doing to get ready for winter. Your child will create their own interpretation of what they see happening outside.

Come after lunch with your child and enjoy the farm with your child. Each class will be different as we explore and learn. Scavenger hunts, visiting animals, art, tasty treats and books are the activities that will happen during the eight weeks of Friday afternoon classes.

After-School Programs

Fall on the Farm After School (Ages 5-10)
Wednesdays, September 27 - October 18, 3:45-5 pm
Discover what is happening on the farm as the fall season begins. We'll see how the farmers start to prepare animals for winter, visit the garden for any end-of-season harvest, and learn what crops grow on Connecticut farms in the fall. Help take a goat for a stroll, decorate a local pumpkin, see how our spring and summer babies have grown ,and use the fall apple harvest to make yummy treats. Class will be taught by SMNC Environmental Educators and limited to 12 children for a small group experience. Classes meet at Heckscher Barn. CODE: EEF1

Wild Woods Adventure After School (Ages 5-10)
Wednesdays, October 25 - November 15, 3:45-5 pm
Our popular outdoors after school adventure is back with a fall session! Explore the autumn forest as we search for salamanders and snakes, work on our woodland fort, and learn how to make fire. We'll use our slack line in the forest, learn some basics of wild edibles, dig in the dirt, try out our new Adventure Trail, and discover our engineering skills as we make brush piles for wildlife. We'll test our outdoor adventure skills in a safe, fun atmosphere that will allow kids to challenge themselves! Limited to 12 children for a great small group experience, so register early. Meet at Overbrook Nature Center. CODE: EEF2
