Introducing... Animal Embassy

2007 marks the beginning of a cooperative partnership between Animal Embassy and the Stamford Museum & Nature Center. The newly renovated Animal Embassy Building, onsite and open to the public at SM&NC, provides dedicated space for housing, feeding and caring for Animal Embassy's collection of non-releasable exotic animal ambassadors. Visitors are welcome to see a variety of animals from around the world including Chipper, a Blue and Gold Macaw.

Animal Embassy, founded by local naturalist Chris Evers, has been providing children and adults the opportunity to connect with incredible creatures and their natural habitats for many years. Chris credits SM&NC with providing him and his family some of their very first experiences in nature. "I am excited to help the Stamford Museum & Nature Center continue their tradition of fostering understanding between people and the natural world." Evers explains of the new partnership.

Animal Embassy at SM&NC will provide live animal experiences for visitors through a variety of programs designed to cultivate appreciation, understanding and interest in wildlife and their environment.

A sampling of programs includes:
  • Naturalist guided experiences utilizing the Museum's 118 acres of forest, vernal pools, streams, and ponds to explore and discover natural life.
  • Live animal presentations. Meet and greet animals from around the world and uncover their secrets to success in the challenging environments they represent.
  • Field trips. Explore nearby parks and associated habitats.
  • Adult and family lecture series. Come for a relaxing evening, as we explore, through photography, the Alaskan coast and the jungles and caves of Belize.
  • Animal-care internship and volunteer opportunities.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
