Session 1: July 6-10

Nature Trails & Farm Tales! - FULL

Our first week will bring a ton of fun and exploration on our great nature trails and popular Heckscher Farm. Peek in the ponds, search the treetops for birds and bugs, and even visit the Rotten Log Hotel as we trek on some of our favorite trails. We’ll also share some of our favorite tales (and tails!) from the farm as we see what our furry and feathery critters, like our goats and chickens, are up to!

Session 2: July 13-17

Earth & Sky Adventure - FULL

The world around us has so much wonder!  We’ll explore it all from the birds and stars in the sky to the soil under our feet!  Campers will meet live birds of prey up close, make mud pies in our mud kitchen, tour the stars in the planetarium, and explore rocks in our newest exhibition!  We’ll also give kids some open exploration time in the forest, provide materials to create things that fly, and get down and dirty in our vegetable garden.

Session 3: July 20-24

Moo Crew Two! - FULL

Our most popular week returns! Join us for hands-on exploration and adventure on the farm. Meet the Heckscher Farm animals from chickens to cows, and everything in between. Discover the moos, baas, quacks, and oinks on the farm through stories and art. We’ll take a special look at the importance of cows learning about the many things we make from milk. Campers will also make some butter. We want you to join the ‘Moo Crew”!

Session 4: July 27-31

Builders & Engineers - FULL

Kids are natural builders and creators! We’ll give campers a great week of building, tinkering, and designing both in the classroom and out on the trails.  We’ll create some outdoor sculpture and recycled art, give kids free rein with loose parts on our outdoor STEAM trail, and discover how animals are builders too! Join us for a great week of exploration and figuring out how things work!

Session 5: August 3-7

Cook the Book! - FULL

The summer version of our popular enrichment class will bring the pages of our favorite books to life! We’ll share one of some great children’s literature together and then get to create something tasty inspired by their pages! Young chefs will get to help with every step of our recipes and will unleash their creativity, as well as work their motor skills through measuring, stirring, and kneading! We’ll visit the farm and garden to harvest many of our ingredients as well! Campers will not be tasting any foods during the camp day.

Session 6: August 10-14

Animal Superheroes- FULL

Animals may not be able to jump buildings in a single bound or may not have the strength of steel, but they have many things, from claws to colors, that help them to be superheroes in their own right! We’ll discover the tools that our favorite critters have to help them do their jobs through stories, live animal visits, and exploring our newest art exhibition: Art & the Animal. We’ll also put our own superhero powers to the test as we tackle the obstacles on our Orange Adventure Trail and play some animal-themed games.

Session 7: August 17-21

Animals, Authors, & Art- FULL

Go behind the scenes of our favorite books as we meet animals straight from the pages and get creative with age-appropriate art experiences inspired by the stories! We’ll meet animals that are furry, feathery, and scaly and then paint, mold, and create masterpieces throughout the week! We’ll visit our summer exhibit Art and the Animal too and have our own outdoor art show for our last day of camp!
