Session 1: Nature Trails & Farm Tales!

June 27-July 1

Our first week will bring a ton of fun and exploration on our great nature trails and popular Heckscher Farm.  We’ll peek in the ponds, search the treetops for birds and bugs, and even visit the Rotten Log Hotel as we trek on some of our favorite trails.  We’ll also share some of our favorite tales (and tails!) from the farm as we see what our furry and feathery critters, like our goats and chickens, are up to!

Session 2: Colors in Nature

July 5-8 (4-day session, no class on 7/4)

From camouflage creatures to beautiful rainbows, there are so many amazing colors in nature.  We’ll hit the trails with a color scavenger hunt, meet animals whose colors help them blend in and stand out, and perform some great experiments on the science of color.  Of course, we’ll also get to create colorful works of art with a variety of media too!

Session 3: Moo Crew Two!

July 11-15

Our most popular week returns! Join us for hands-on exploration and adventure on the farm.  Meet the Heckscher Farm animals from chickens to cows, and everything in between.  Discover the moos, baas, quacks, and oinks on the farm through stories and art.  We’ll take a special look at the importance of cows learning about the many things we make from milk. Campers will also make some butter to taste.  We want you to join the ‘Moo Crew”!

Session 4: How Does it Grow?

July 18-22

We’ll discover how some of our favorite things grow up! Discover how seeds turn into yummy garden veggies, how tadpoles turn into frogs, how hard-shelled eggs become chickens, and how our kids grow up to big goats. We’ll see the magic of metamorphosis when caterpillars become butterflies. Kids will paint their own portrait as they think they’ll look when they grow up too.

Session 6: Winged Wonders

August 1-5

Explore the wonderful world of winged creatures! From the butterflies that visit our pollinator garden to the birds in our forest, we’ll search for all types of winged things! Help to feed our ducks on the farm, visit with our chickens, listen for birds on our trails, and meet our barred owl up close! We’ll create some great art around our favorite winged animals too!

Session 5: Builders & Engineers

July 25-29

Last year’s favorite returns! Kids are natural builders and creators! We’ll give campers a great week of building, tinkering, and designing both in the classroom and out on the trails.  We’ll create some outdoor sculpture and recycled art, give kids free rein with loose parts on our outdoor STEAM trail, and discover how animals are builders too! Join us for a great week of exploration and figuring out how things work!
