Children Entering a 4s Preschool or Kindergarten

Children entering PreK4 or K will go wild for art and nature at our hands-on camp! We’ll explore all of the best that SM&NC has to offer and get your campers unplugged and OUTSIDE hiking on trails, participating in outdoor art, visiting animal pastures, experiencing free play, rolling over logs, and more. Give your kids the camp experience they crave and that is vital to their development. Find joy and explore curiosity this spring and summer!

Our Wild at Art camp is taught by our Preschool Teachers and experienced seasonal staff.

STAY FOR LUNCH as part of our "Lunch Bunch!"

For an additional fee, children can bring a lunch and drink and extend their time with us from 12:15 – 1:15 pm. Lunch Bunch can be added to a registered session up until 12pm on the Friday before that session.

Please note that you must be registered for a session in order to register for Lunch Bunch. Lunch Bunch can be added up until a week before a scheduled session.

This session is open to all SM&NC Members.

Moo Crew!-LIMITED

April 14 - 17  (4 days)

Our most popular session is now in spring! Join us for four days of amazing farm experiences.  Visit with our favorite friends from goats to chickens.  We’ll peek in on any new spring babies that have arrived, make a treat for the pigs, and more! Discover the moos, baas, quacks, and oinks on the farm through stories and art.

Limited to 12 campers. Lunch bunch is not offered for the spring session.
Registration closes on April 4.

Extended School Sessions

Extended school sessions are open only to current students in the SM&NC’s Art, Nature & Me Preschool for 2024-25.
Registrations for campers that are not current students will be refunded.

Water Wonders-FULL

May 27 - 30  (4 days)

Explore the wonderful world of water and the animals that live in aquatic habitats! Make a treat for our Sadie & Ron, our River Otters, visit with our swimming turtles, and see how our amphibians are growing up in our vernal pools.

Limited to 15 campers. There will be a lunch bunch option for this week. Registration closes on May 22.

Roots, Shoots, Critters & Boots-FULL

June 2 - 6  (5 days)

Get hands-on at Heckscher Farm!  Discover what’s growing in the garden and visit with the horses, goats, chickens and other residents of the farm!  We’ll get our hands dirty as we dig in the soil and learn about the roots, shoots and fruits that grow in our organic garden. We’ll also meet many of the animals that call Heckscher Farm home and discover the many things that come from the farm.

Limited to 15 campers. There will be a lunch bunch option for this week. Registration closes on May 29.

2025 Summer Camp Sessions

For children who are age-eligible for PreK 4s or Kindergarten in Fall 2025 (age 4 by December 31, 2025)

Is the session that you are interested in sold out? Join our waitlist! Email the name of your child and the session(s) you are interested in to summercamp@stamfordmuseum.org. We will contact you if and when an opening becomes available.  

Lunch Bunch may be added to your registration up until week before camp begins. 

Session 1: Animals, Authors & Art-LIMITED SPACE

June 30 - July 3  (4 days)

We’ll dive into some of our favorite books and create age-appropriate art experiences inspired by their stories and images! We’ll head out onto Heckscher Farm and into the forest to find some of the animals that we have read about in our books as well. See the pages of our books come to life while we meet furry, feathery, and scaly friends along the way!

Session 2: Moo Crew-FULL

July 7 - 11

Our most popular week returns! Join us for hands-on exploration and adventure on the farm.  Meet the Heckscher Farm animals from chickens to cows, and everything in between.  Discover the moos, baas, quacks, and oinks on the farm through stories and art.  We’ll take a special look at the importance of cows learning about the many things we make from milk. Campers will also make some butter to taste.  We want you to join the Moo Crew!

Session 3: Earth & Sky-FULL

July 14 - 18

Join us to explore the sun, clouds, and stars above our head and the soil, plants, and critters at our feet! We’ll discover the shapes of common constellations and the clouds in the sky and discover what seeds need to grow in the garden! Discover the animals that live beneath the “Rotten Log Hotel” and create some art with the sun!

 

 Session 4: Farm Tails & Tools-FULL

July 21 - 25

A great farm week focusing on our animals and tools! Learn the job of an animal’s tail and do a scavenger hunt for different tails on the farm! We’ll also explore some of our favorite farm tools, like our tractor, wheelbarrows, and our largest tool—the barn! See some of our antique farm tools and try some out too! Paint with a tractor, use some tools to work in the garden, and more

Session 5: Builders & Engineers-FULL

July 28 - August 1

Kids are natural builders and creators! We’ll give campers a great week of building, tinkering, and designing both in the classroom and out on the trails.  We’ll create some outdoor sculpture and recycled art, give kids free rein with loose parts on our outdoor STEAM trail, and discover how animals are builders too! Join us for a great week of exploration and figuring out how things work!

Session 6: Buggin’ Out-FULL

August 4 - 8

Join us for a week to celebrate the boneless beasts! We’ll look for caterpillars and butterflies in our gardens, worms in the soil, and baby dragonflies in the stream! We’ll learn how some bugs change their shapes as they grow. We’ll discover that insects are an important food source and meet some of the animals that love bugs for dinner! We’ll put our fly swatters to good use for art and leave the bugs to do their jobs!
