Farmhouse Festival - Sunday, November 4, 2018
On a picture-perfect autumn day, we welcomed more than 3200 families from our community and beyond, to The Farmhouse Festival. The Knobloch Family Farmhouse was bustling with children and adults in the Selkowitz Family Great Room, doing craft projects, learning about flaxing, taking silly photos in the photo booth and enjoying hot apple cider and donuts. Outside on the Fedele Family Farmhouse Plaza, there was a constant flow of people coming in and out, stopping to sit at one of the gabion benches, listening to the bluegrass band, as well as a live reading of the SM&NC’s original book, Goodnight, Heckscher Farm.
The Farmhouse Festival also celebrated the opening of a new Sugar House + Cidery where visitors had the opportunity to press apples into cider! The Sugar House + Cidery will also be home to maple syrup demonstrations and production. It captures an additional 13% growth in multi-season programming that will complement the traditions of a working New England farm.
