Jeremiah Chechik: Explorer begins final month on view

Stamford, CT — With the coming of May, Jeremiah Chechik: Explorer has entered its final month on view at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center. The SM&NC encourages all to visit prior to its May 27th close to experience the show’s contemplative blurring of fact, fiction, objectivity and subjectivity as expressed through the visionary digital paintings of artist, photographer and filmmaker Jeremiah Chechik.
Internationally acclaimed for his work in film and also regarded for his innovative work in fine-art photography, Chechik brings decades of artistic exploration to this aptly named exhibition.
“Blurring the lines between truth and illusion, the work inhabits a median zone,” says Chechik. “It explores ways of connecting our human desire to understand and imagine what lies outside our immediate perception.”
While distinct in subject matter, Chechik’s multiple series on view possess a shared power to immerse viewers in a “post-truth” reality that questions the reliability of what is to be seen and believed.

Notably, AI plays a role in the artist’s process. Through an intimate and somewhat symbiotic relationship, some details of his work are born from a conversation between Chechik and his unconventional co-artist and partner, whom he terms “The Machine.”
“AI is a very, very sophisticated and in a way, I would say magical tool,” he says. “It does open your eyes to the relationship between the visual and the poetic. My first thought was that poets would be the new visual artists.”
By melding advanced digital design with traditional printing, his images are more than just visually aesthetic — they also challenge us to consider the ways perception is shaped by history, memory, and technology, and provoke questions about the nature of truth in our media-saturated age.
