STAMFORD — Kaden Bouldin wanted his proposal to his then-girlfriend Nicole May to be a surprise and thought a local spot would be less likely to give away his plans.
He decided on the Stamford Museum & Nature Center. One day last spring, Bouldin, who coaches lacrosse at Stamford High School, told May that before they went out to eat together, he needed to bring a projector to the nature center for a team event.
He led her to the Otter Bridge, where there was a circular arch decorated with flowers and a sign in the shape of a crescent moon that said “to the moon and back,” a phrase the couple has used since they first dated in high school. There, he got down on one knee.
“It was something that I could do that was romantic and beautiful but I could still give her a surprise,” Bouldin said.
May said “yes.”
The staff at the nature center, which also hosts weddings, were helpful as he planned out the moment, Bouldin said.
“They blocked off where we did it, so it was only us by the time the proposal happened,” he said.
With Valentine’s Day nearing, here are several other places in Stamford that may provide just the right setting for a proposal.
